Thursdays In June Wake Up And See The Stars
 Gather at the planetarium at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Greenbank every Thursday for a unique look at the sky.  There is a three dollar charge per person and reservations are suggested.  Program begins at 2:00 PM.  For more information, call the NRAO at 304-456-2150 or visit www.nrao.edu.

June 3-4 Birding and Wildflower Train
 Ride the Cass Scenic up the mountain where naturalist guides will take you on a special birding and wildflower hike.  Bring your cameras and your hiking boots and be at the train by 6:30am.  Call 800-CALL-WVA or visit www.cassrailroad.com for more details.

June 9-10 The Foreigner At The Opera House
 The Pocahontas Drama Workshop presents Layy Shue’s hilarious comic romp, The Foreigner, for the annual community production directed by Margaret Baker.  The zany comedy was winner of two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards as Best New American Play and Best Off Broadway Production.  For more information call the Opera House at 304-799-6645.

June 10 Moonlight Fire Greenbrier Rail Excursion
 Offered on full moon nights during the season, this late evening excursion aboard the steam powered Climax Train begins with a buffet dinner at the Durbin Depot followed by a trip along the beautiful, moonlit Greenbrier River.  See the stars in this remote wilderness, far from ambient light, and follow the reflection of the moon shining on the river.  Train departs the Depot at 8:00pm.  For more information call 877-686-7245 or visit www.mountainrail.com.

June 14 and 28 NRAO Off Limits Weekend
 Join the Nation Radio Astronomy Observatory for a guided tour through parts of the NRAO normally off limits to visitors.  View areas where sensitive receivers are designed and built and much more.  The tour starts at 3:30pm and space is limited to the first 15 people.  The cost is three dollars per person.  For more information, call 304-456-2150 or visit www.nrao.edu.

June 16 Snowshoe Foundation Golf Tournament (Registration Deadline is June 5)
 The mission of the Snowshoe Foundation is to seek to enhance the quality of life in our local communities through assisting local organizations and/or individuals in areas of health, human services, education, recreation, the arts, culture and the environment, with an emphasis on children, youth and family programs.

June 17 and 24 Fiddles and Vittles Train Special

June 18-24 Allegheny Echoes Summer Workshops
 Allegheny Echoes is the concept of a group of West Virginia musicians and writers who wish to promote, support, preserve and teach their own art without distracting influence.  Their goal is to provide an accurate representation of West Virginia art that is not packaged and altered to appeal to a specific market.  There is a strong emphasis placed on West Virginia tradition with an overall look toward embracing Appalachian culture.  The summer workshops offer a chance for students of all ages and abilities to come together to learn, appreciate and appreciate our West Virginia Ways.  For more information, visit www.alleghenyechoes.com.

June 23-25 Pearl S. Buck Birthday Party
 This years theme is ‘Our Musical Heritage.’  Enjoy a three-day event with old time music, a western rodeo and a grand opening ceremony.  Events also include a barbeque pig roast, arts and crafts, a ham and biscuit sale, vintage farming demonstrations, old fashioned kid carnival, live bluegrass music, log race on the Greenbrier River, a gospel singing and candlelight vespers. June 30 Murder Mystery Train At Cass

July 1-4 July 4th Celebration
 Come and celebrate freedom with us!  Enjoy a weekend jam packed with live entertainment, great events, movies and a spectacular fireworks show on July 3rd that will blow you away!

July 2 Snowshoe Mountain Timbersports Challenge
 Hear the roar of the saws and experience the excitement of head to head competition as a cast of elite timbersports athletes converge on the mountain to battle it out for cash and prizes.  Lumberjacks and lumberjills will compete in 5 different events, showcasing their strength, skill and speed as they use axes, handsaws and modified chainsaws to make short work of huge logs.

July 7-9 15th Annual Fire On The Mountain Chili Cook-Off
 Snowshoe Mountain will be blazing as we turn up the heat for the 15th Annual “Fire On The Mountain”  Chili Cook-Off.  Along with great live entertainment, fun and games, we are giving away more than $15,000 in cash and prizes to the top chili cooks.
